This will be done with the new feature
media reports, after the introduction of the new feature, users will be able to pay electricity and water bills through WhatsApp, recharge their mobiles and pay rent. It will be integrated into the company's existing UPI-based payment system WhatsApp Pay. Currently, WhatsApp allows you to only send money to contacts and make payments to businesses via UPI. It is planned to be expanded in the coming days.
WhatsApp Pay was approved some time ago
WhatsApp Pay has recently received permission from the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) to launch UPI service for all its users. Earlier, the limit of 100 million users was imposed on the company, but now it has been removed. However, WhatsApp Pay has still not reached the old limit and has managed to collect only 5.1 crore users, which is about 10 per cent of its total user base
WhatsApp Pay is tough
The competition in the digital payments sector in India is extremely fierce and WhatsApp Pay will face a tough challenge here. Currently, PhonePe leads here with about 48 per cent market share. Google Pay is the second largest company here with 37 per cent market share
all users can expand UPI services to WhatsApp Pay - NPCI said in a statement that with the removal of this limit, WhatsApp Pay will now be able to expand the UPI service to all its users in India. On Tuesday, December 31, 2024, NPCI removed the 100 million user cap on WhatsApp Payments, after which all WhatsApp users will be able to use WhatsApp Pay
