So far, the municipality has made payments of over Rs 100 crore: Mu. Corporation to pay Rs 6.73 crore annually to temporary drivers

The Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) has been getting drivers on contract instead of regularly recruiting drivers over the years. It will be surprising to know that in the last 15-17 years, the Vadodara Municipal Corporation has paid more than Rs 100 crore to the drivers who supply the drivers.

The vehicle pool branch of The Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) allocates vehicles in three shifts to various offices and wards of the municipal corporation. At present, there are around 400 different types of vehicles in the Vehiclepool branch. Also, under the Smart City project, 30 vehicles were purchased recently, including rollers, tuks, water tankers, tractors and de-silting machines. The annual requirement of hiring drivers is done by the municipality to cater to the greater requirement of the driver. The civic body had undertaken the tender process to provide annual compensation to get more than 300 drivers from the agency supplying manpower through outsourcing. In which the injured Balaji Seq. Services Pvt. Ltd. A proposal has been submitted to the standing committee to give them work when L-1 comes. It is worth noting that the drivers change, but the drivers remain the same. So far the municipality has paid over Rs 100 crore to private encroachers and is yet to decide how much it will do next.

Even after stepping down from the Vadodara Municipal Corporation, some of the office-bearers do not miss out on taking advantage at the expense and risk of the municipality. Rajesh Nikam, a municipal contract driver who was injured in a road accident in Rajasthan recently, died after falling into the bathroom. Now, there is a political buzz that even a former mayor is using a municipal contract driver to drive his personal car. The driver, who is on contract, has been allotted a job in the emergency service fire brigade. But it's more with the former mayor. How many others are misusing the contract drivers of The Barobar Municipality in this way?  It is a matter of investigation. As well as the presence of these drivers, there is a lot of confusion, but by adopting the policy of Teri Bhi Chup, Meri Bhi Chup, a huge financial loss of the municipality's treasury is done every year.
