The police have launched a massive drive to curb the growing drug abuse among the youth in Gandhinagar district. The SOG police conducted a thorough investigation at the dental college in Uwarsad village. P.I. V.D. Vala and his team along with the college management conducted a search operation. Police searched cafes, parlours, paan gallas and hotels around the college. Vehicles were also checked with the help of dog squads. During the investigation, a young man smoked a cigarette in a bindass manner in the presence of the police. After this incident, there has been a demand for checking in paan gallas and parlours after 9 pm in The Gujarat National Law University and PDPU area. Police also checked into the hostel and made students aware to stay away from drugs. Nowadays the youth have turned to the consumption of narcotic substances including ganja, in view of which the police took this action.
