Iran's Power Undiminished After Assad's Fall, IRGC Chief Boasts Amid Blame Game Over Rebel Takeover

The Commander in Chief of the IRGC* has reassured lawmakers that Iran remains a regional power despite the fall of the Syrian government. Ebrahim Rezaei, the spokesperson for the Parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Committee, shared details of the closed session. Rezaei highlighted Major General Hossein Salami’s “confidence in Iran’s capabilities.” Ebrahim Rezaei, also said that the elimination of the “Zionist regime” is still a priority, referring to Israel. Rezaei shared details of the Dec.10 closed session of the parliament in a post on his X account. Meanwhile, IRGC officials reported that commanders were angrily blaming each other for the fall of Assad’s regime and the resulting loss of Iranian influence in the region.
