55% of accidents occurred on open roads, 6400 people died in 1 year where there is a direct road

Gujarat News Room. Ahmedabad In Gujarat, 7854 people died in more than 16 thousand accidents in 2023. According to the recently released report of the Gujarat Road Safety Authority, 55% of the total accidents in the state in a year have occurred on open roads. In which 4843 people have died. While 6414 people lost their lives in 81% accidents on direct roads. 90% i.e. 14718 accidents occurred due to overspeeding, in which 92% of the total deaths i.e. 7278 people died. In a year, 708 people who sat in the back seat in two-wheelers died due to not wearing helmets. In the last five years, 20 people have lost their lives in 42 accidents every day. There has been an increase in accidents compared to last year. In 2022, 7618 people lost their lives in 15751 accidents and in 2023 7854 people lost their lives in 16349 accidents. More than 7,000 deaths due to overspeeding In 2023, 90% of the total accidents i.e. 14718 accidents occurred due to overspeeding, while 92% of the total deaths i.e. 7278 people died due to overspeeding. 8213 people were seriously injured in accidents due to overspeeding and needed to go to the hospital. While 5363 people had minor injuries in one year. 2767 people died due to not wearing helmets in one year. 2699 people were seriously injured due to wearing. 899 people died due to not wearing seat belts in four-wheelers and 398 of them were non-drivers, that is, they were sitting in front or rear seats. 1111 people were seriously injured due to not wearing seat belts. Learn from the news The responsibility is also ours, after such accidents, the blame is put on the government machinery. But negligence of drivers is also a big reason. Precautions are taken on a curved route or where there is more movement of people. But even when the road is empty and straight, the speed is increased, in which case the possibility of an accident increases. So let's control the speed even when there is an empty road and avoid accidents.
