A black dock dhonk couple who have been making Wadhwan a hometown for the last 7 years

Vadodara. Birds who come to the Lake Of Wadhwana to spend winter leave for their respective countries as soon as the heat begins. But surprisingly the black dock dhonk couple has made Vadwana their hometown. Dr. Rahul Bhagwat has carefully observed.

A couple of black dock dhonk birds living in North East Asia and Australia have nested on a tamarind tree in Shimlia village on the Wadhwana coast. Observing the couple for seven years, photographer Dr. Rahul Bhagwat says that although the bird is a yavar, it has settled permanently in Wadhwan. The black dock dhonk builds a very large nest, the nest is so strong that even an adult can stand on it, but nothing will happen to the nest. After nesting, bird couples use it for many years.

He further said that the couple has been observed for the last 7 years. Once the nest had come to the ground, i observed the nest. The nest is currently preserved by the forest department. After breaking one nest, the bird couple has worked the other tree and built another nest. The bird couple has been so like the thorn of the wadhwana that here it breeds and breeds, which has also led to the cradle being built in their house for the past two to three years and the family has become a cub.

Dr. Rahul says that the construction of another nest after the breaking of one nest proves that the black dock dhonk considers the place very convenient to stay in beldi. Unfortunately, this bird is on the list of birds that are destroyed, that is, under the risk of gene admonition.  There are very few instances of it appearing in Gujarat. It is sometimes found in Jamnagar and Kutch. It is a matter of pride for Vadodara that two pairs of these live permanently around Vadodara. It also successfully breeds in Vadodara.

Dr. Rahul Bhagwat concludes that these birds get a very safe and convenient environment in the water sources of Vadodara. Black dock dhonk is the largest and most powerful of all the dhok class cranes. Its beak is large, black and slightly curved upwards, legs long and pink in colour, the upper part of the head, neck and shoulders except the surrounding part is shiny black. In which different colours are visible in the sun. The upper back and half of the wing around the stomach and shoulders are white.

Males and females look the same. The male's eye is red and dark when the female's eye turns yellow away. The colour of the eye separates the male and the female from a distance. This bird with a strong move is a minority bird.  The specialty of river, ponds, muddy shallow aquifers, single doklas, never seen in crowds.

Dr. Rahul Bhagwat is a scholar of birds found in vadodara and surrounding water stations, is knowledgeable. He regularly visits birds across India for bird observation and has observed and photographed more than 900 species of birds in forests across India.
