Education is the passport to the future: Students of Gujarat are eligible?

According to Martin Luther King Jr, The function of education is to teach one to think intensively and to think critically. Intelligence plus character - that is the goal of true education”.

The role of Schools has reduced by 50% because of this online education. The kid’s homework and revision have become a key responsibility of Parents. Due to COVID-19 restriction most of extracurricular activities like picnic, competitions, field trip, Annual Day function, Sports Function won't be done. As per the current situation of Covid-19 in Gujarat, none of the school will start functioning till May2022 and parents are in pain to pay the school fees. The private schools make big profit every year and due to covid-19 recurring expenditure is reduced by around 60% with a saving of electricity bill, monthly overhead expenses and other expenses. The parents have the burden of paying fees, buying new gadgets, accessories and also paying for an internet data pack during this pandemic situation. Every school decided to collect full fees for the academic Year 2020-21 and increased school fees for the academic year 2021-22 that too for online classes. The schooling expenses of a family increased and a family income decreased due to covid-19. The number of families lost earning member of the family or earning member is jobless while middle class business families had a limited business due to lockdown. The additional expenses of the internet data pack, buying gadgets like Desktop computers/ Laptop/ Tab/ Speaker/ Headphones etc., as giving mobile to kids is not a solution for longer period.

The Government of Gujarat passed bill of The Gujarat Self-Financed Schools (Regulation of Fees) Act, 2017 passed on 25th April 2017. The Fee regulatory committees (FRC) appointed by the Government of Gujarat to decide the fees of private schools for year 2017-18, 2018-19 and 2019-20 but a number of private schools disagreed with fees decided by the FRC and an applied for the revision. The private use loophole in a law and every year apply for the revision of fees and the matter is subjudice (i.e. matter is under trial). The three to four years is not sufficient to decide the fees of private schools? Why school management is not accepting the fees decided by the FRC, private school management is above the law? The chief minister of Gujarat and Gujarat Education Minister state required to look into the issue at earliest. The parents of schools are not against paying fees, but request the Government of Gujarat, Education Minister and School Management, to reduce the fees by 50-60% and support everyone in this pandemic situation.
