Gujarat New Naming System: The State Government has taken an important decision with a view to maintain uniformity on all birth and death registration units in the State of Gujarat. A new system of naming has been implemented in birth and death certificates by issuing a circular by the Deputy Chief Registrar of the Government of Gujarat. According to this new rule, from now on, birth and death certificates have been instructed to write the first name, then the middle name i <.e. the father's name and finally the surname>

There was no specific guideline for naming, so people used to write their names in their own way in important matters like birth and death pattern and Aadhaar card. Some people used to write the first name and some would write the surname, due to which the government had to face many difficulties in updating the ID and linking the data. The government has also clarified in this regard that it will be necessary to follow this new naming system in the Aadhaar card as well. Those who have an old-fashioned Aadhaar card do not need to make any corrections or changes at present. But whenever there is any change in the Aadhaar card, this new method has to be followed

After this new notification of the government, now all the newly withdrawn Aadhaar cards have been instructed to write the first name, then the father's name and finally the surname. Similarly, a circular has been issued by the Deputy Chief Registrar to implement this system with immediate effect in the case of birth and death. The move is expected to bring uniformity in the birth and death registration process and make government functioning easier and more efficient
