Complaints were raised by locals that drinking water in Saraspur Rakhial, located in the eastern part of the city, was not coming at adequate pressure. MlAs and corporators have also written letters proposing to revamp the Saraspur water distribution. A proposal to renovate the Saraspur Water Distribution Centre behind Shardaben Hospital in three phases by underground tank has been placed before the water supply committee meeting on Monday. Rs. 10,000/- for renovating the water tank at Saraspur. It is estimated to cost Rs 25.49 crore. The walls of the existing water tank had become old. Therefore, it has been proposed to give a contract at an increased price of 30.69 percent to build a new vertical turbine tank by breaking the underground water tank. An underground tank of 11.93 million water capacity has been built by breaking the underground tank. After the completion of this work, more than 70 thousand people of Saraspur Rakhial area will get water with adequate pressure.
