Fire breaks out in plastic godown near Hujrat Paga

The fire brigade rushed to the godown near the women's police station in Karelibagh area of the city and brought the fire under control. They were forced to break the locks of the godown door to douse the fire. The fire was brought under control by running a water cannon. The cause of the fire was yet to be ascertained. As well as the warehouse was closed, the owner was not contacted and his door was broken with the local police. A sub-fire officer of Dandia Bazar fire station said they rushed to the spot within a minute of being informed about the fire. While checking, he tried to run a stream of water from the adjoining agassi as it was locked. But the lock was forced to be broken as the water did not reach the spot of the fire. The fire was brought under control by breaking the lock in the presence of police. Piles of plastic bags were lying in the godown. Further, the PSI of the city police station said that the plastic bags caught fire inside and the water was not reaching there. Since it would take them 10 to 15 minutes to inform the tenants, the fire could have caused more damage all around. So the fire was extinguished by breaking the lock by taking an immediate decision.
