Under which CNG-petrol and EV-rickshaws will now be able to compete anywhere in Gujarat. Because so far, only those districts in the state were given permits. A circular has been issued by the Transport Commissioner allowing CNG rickshaws and electric rickshaws which are legally recognised to ply all over Gujarat.
Diesel rickshaws will not be allowed on expressways other than in urban areas
The decision was taken by the Transport Commissioner at a meeting held on October 15, however, diesel rickshaws were not allowed to ply on expressways, in addition to urban areas including Ahmedabad and Surat.
The autorickshaw has to be used as per the conditions of the permit
A three-wheeler autorickshaw is a public service vehicle in the transport category. To use this vehicle, registration is required as per Section 39 of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988. Also, according to Section 66, there is a need to get a permit. Autorickshaws have to be used as per the conditions of the permit. However, the conditions of this permit are of four types. It is allowed to be rotated as the area of the permit in the city, district or the city shown. Now all the rickshaws have been exempted from this bondage.
