After a surprise surprise check conducted by bhachau provincial officer and flying squad of mines and minerals department at Vagad in east Kutch, east Kutch mines and minerals department continued to raid in Vagad as well as in Kandla after Mithirohar of Gandhidham. Giving details, Na.A. Patel, geologist of the East Kutch Mines and Minerals Department, said that as per the instructions of the Kutch Collector, action was taken to stop unauthorized mining, transportation, storage at different places in the East-Kutch region. As part of which a surprise investigation was conducted on 9/10. One dumper at Gandhidham Kandla and three vehicles/dumpers were seized from Lakdia Adesar Highway on 10/10/10 for carrying non-authorised minerals. In which 2 dumpers of China Clay mineral and 1 dumper of plain sand and 1 dumper of hard marum mineral have been seized for unauthorized transportation. During this operation, goods worth more than Rs.1 crore have been seized. Apart from seizing the vehicles and taking action as per the rules, the process of recovering a fine amount of Rs 10,00,000 is underway, he said.
