Healthy villagers forced to undergo angioplasty in Gujarat; doctor arrested

A cardiologist operating at a Gujarat hospital was arrested for allegedly performing unnecessary angioplasties on healthy individuals. The scheme involved falsely diagnosing heart conditions to claim insurance under the Ayushman Bharat PM-JAY scheme. Two patients died after the procedure. Investigations revealed that the hospital organized medical camps to identify potential beneficiaries and mislead them into undergoing unnecessary surgical procedures.
