In a surprising and distressing move, Delhi Public School (DPS), Harni, has announced an unexpected fee hike starting from January 2025, leaving parents furious and frustrated. The hike, amounting to approximately Rs. 6000, was implemented without any prior notice or communication to the parents, throwing families into financial turmoil. What has added to the uproar is the fact that this increase comes right in the middle of the academic year, leaving no room for parents to plan or adjust to the sudden burden.
Many parents are questioning the rationale behind such an abrupt decision, with several expressing concerns that it might be a political move. Some have raised suspicions that the fee hike could be a form of a "pay party fund," with the ruling party turning a blind eye to the unjustified increase in school fees while schools under their influence are allowed to take such drastic actions. This has led to an overwhelming sense of betrayal among the parents, who trusted that their children's education would remain a priority over financial exploitation.
Adding to the discontent, the District Education Officer (DEO), Vadodara, and the Fees Regulatory Committee (FRC), Vadodara, have failed to take any action despite numerous complaints from aggrieved parents. The absence of accountability from these authorities has left parents feeling helpless and unsupported in the face of rising educational costs.
In a community that values quality education, this sudden and unexplained hike feels like an unjustifiable burden on the shoulders of parents who already struggle to meet their families' needs. Parents are now demanding immediate intervention from the concerned authorities to reverse this fee hike and bring transparency into how such decisions are made, especially during the midst of an ongoing academic year.

Need to reverse the fees in ongoing terms from middle of existing academic year and without payment of the fees, they are not even giving final reault... Government should look into this issue and must have control on these kind of private schools..
Mukesh
Very disaapoinmeted that gov has no control on this unexpected fee hike.
Dejected Parent
Really frustrating and disappointing decision from the school. Big part is they give this disclosure of fee hike after all the books and uniform being purchased for the new academic year and when classes too has begun, leaving no option to change the school even. 5% hike committed at the time of admission is truly false. Straight hike of Rs. 11000 is highly unjustified. Requesting authority to intervene, please.
Frustrated DPS Parent
After the last increment of 6000/- the school has again increased the fees again by approx 11000/-. Is there any control over this. They have introduced a new term called term fee which one month fee currently 7785/- which they will take additional for 6month twice a year. So they kept the month fees same as last year & are asking to pay 2months fee extra apart from regular fees. Why can't gov. stop them. Where parents can raise their voice. Just understand the pain of parents having more than one child.

The entire decision-making process regarding the fee hike appears to be one-sided, lacking logical reasoning or proper justification. This has been a consistent issue for several years. There must be transparency & reasonable fee hike with proper justification is needed

School fees hike is very unexpected and sad. Almost everybody has paid full fees and suddenly they have hiked that fees with out any information at ending term of the school.

I have 2 kids studying in school, if school will increase fee in the end of session without prior notice it becomes very difficult situation to handle. Increment in fee should be government regulated.
VP
This is not acceptable if they don't understand we have to include VPA and then go for court.

School has increased the Fee by 17.5% compared to last year. Are bhai itna to company mein salary increment bhi nahi milta. India's avg inflation rate is 5-6% on average. This schools will achieve the Modi's dream of 5 trillion economy even before him.

I understand that schools need to cover their costs and invest in quality education, but a Rs 6000 increase seems excessive. I would appreciate it if the school administration could provide a detailed breakdown of the costs and explain how this increase will benefit our children's education. Transparency and communication are key in situations like this. I hope the school will consider the impact on families and provide more information to justify this significant increase."

They haven't even inform anyone about the sudden increase In fees. Moreover they ask the money for the nursary standar which has been already finished. After the declaration of result and hand it over to the parents how can they ask extra money for that year which had already completed.
