The mega demolition work was going on in Bardhanchowk area of Jamnagar today, during which a presentation was made by the opposition party keeping the traders together, at the end of which the system has stopped the work today, and has given 24 hours time.
In Jamnagar, the work of removing the pressure of the traders was being carried out by the municipal system, during which the leader of the opposition of the Jamnagar Municipal Corporation Dhaval Nanda, as well as former leader of the opposition Aslam Khilji, and corporators including Altafbhai Khafi joined late. Other leaders etc. along with the traders made a representation to the administration and sought time.
In view of all these representations, the demolition work has been stopped by the administration from 12:15 pm today, and time has been given till 10:00 am tomorrow.
Traders have been told by the system to relieve their pressure on their own during the night. It is learned that the demolition work will be carried out again from 10:00 am onwards.
A huge ruckus broke out while removing the pressures raised by traders in Bardhan Chowk area of Jamnagar.
A team of Jamnagar Municipal Corporation's pressure removal branch reached Bardhan Chowk area with heavy police bandobast with machinery including three JCB machines and two big heavy tractors, and amidst heavy protests from the traders, the work of removing the unauthorized pressure, including advertisement boards, iron mesh, khapedas, was carried out. There was a lot of friction at this time.
At first, the traders protested against the removal of this pressure, and some of the traders sat on the ground in front of the municipal team and the police system team and asked them to stop the operation, but the administration did not miss the toss, and the campaign to remove the pressure continued unabated, creating a very tense atmosphere.
Traders, including Bardhan Chowk-Lindi Bazaar, staged a bandh today to protest against the de-pressure campaign.
The Jamnagar Municipal Corporation (JMC) had launched a campaign to remove the pressure in areas including Bardhanchowk-Lindi Bazaar yesterday, and by this morning, the shopkeepers were instructed to remove their khapeda-board etc. from themselves, in protest against this, the traders closed today, and more than 150 shops remained closed. The decision was expressed by all the traders, and the area, including Bardhan Chowk Lindi Bazaar, remained closed since early this morning, and not a single shop was open.
There are more than 250 shops owned by shopkeepers, including textile traders and other items like cutlery-hosiery utensils, in the Bardhan Chowk Lindi Bazar area, all of which were protested by the traders today, and have shut down.
