System on alert following possible impact of Biparjon cyclone in the district


- Meeting held to prepare for a possible storm in Bhavnagar district

- In case of need, arrangements will be made to shift people to safer places, emergency response centers at taluka and district level will be operational 24 hours a day.

Bhavnagar: A meeting of district officials was held at the collector's office on Saturday under the chairmanship of the district collector to review the preparedness for a possible storm, in which instructions were given by the collector to ensure work with the aim of zero casualty.

In view of the possibility of a severe situation arising out of possible storms and heavy rains, necessary and appropriate precautionary measures have been taken in Bhavnagar district and necessary pre-planning has been done by the District Disaster Management System for the same. Arrangements have been made to ensure timely warning to people living in dangerous houses, mud houses, roofs and low-lying areas. Identification of safe shelters as well as all basic amenities including water, electricity, sanitation etc. in the shelters. Make arrangements to shift people to a safe place in case of need. The emergency response center at the taluka as well as district level will be operational 24 hours a day. Quantities of food grains, water, medicines, fuel and other essential commodities will be available. Teams will be kept on standby for speedy maintenance and restoration of essential services such as power supply, water supply, road etc. in case of an emergency.  

To ensure arrangements for the safety of animals such as nearest gaushalas/panjrapoles etc. To plan for the availability of essential medicines, medical/ para-medical staff in the hospital. It is important that the instructions given by the government from time to time are strictly followed. The district collector has ordered the officers and employees not to leave the head quarter. Precautionary and safety measures have been ensured in the district.  The do's and don'ts have to be followed before, during and after the storm. In the meeting, the collector was asked to work with the aim of zero casualty. Apart from this, officials of each department were asked to be available 24 hours in case of an emergency. The meeting was attended by municipal commissioner, district superintendent of police and officials of disaster management of the district.
