The government and the municipal corporation have undertaken the work of deepening the Vishwamitri and Ajwa-Pratappura lakes to prevent the situation like last year's devastating floods in the Vishwamitri river passing through the city. The private company is earning money from the plastic waste coming out during this operation by setting up a unit in the municipal space. It is worth mentioning that due to the target of completing the Vishwamitri project in 100 days, the number of machinery is being increased by the municipality day by day. So far, 590 metric tonnes of plastic waste has been removed from the Vishwamitri river bed and lakes. Kashyap Shah, an official of the Solid Waste Department, said that the plastic waste released during the ongoing work under the Vishwamitri project is taken to the Atladara unit. There is a plan to process it and prepare plastic grains and road making material from it. However, this work has to be done as per the guidelines of the GPCB. Land given to the company on PPP basis
He further said that in the year 2022, land at Atladara has been allotted to Eco Vision Company on PPP basis by Vadodara Corporation. The company segregates and reprocesses plastic from the waste coming out of the city. This company makes grains from waste plastic. It is worth mentioning that this company has been earning from plastic waste since 2022 by setting up the company in the land given by the Vadodara Corporation. The municipality has not benefited from a single rupee in the work being done on PPP basis.
