Jitubhai Vaghani PAC Chairman: Jitubhai Vaghani has been appointed as the chairman of the Public Accounts Committee of the Gujarat Legislative Assembly for the third consecutive year. During the sixth session of the Assembly, Speaker Shankarbhai Chaudhary announced the extension of the term of all financial and non-financial committees of the assembly till the seventh session. As a result of this decision, Jitubhai Vaghani has once again become the president of this important committee
With Jitubhai Vaghani in this committee, Vinendrasinh Zala, C. Or. Raulji, Jayesh Radadiya, Ishwarsinh Patel, Kishore (Kumar) Kanani and Nareshbhai Patel will continue as members. Apart from this, experienced MLAs Arjunbhai Modhwadia, Shailesh Parmar, Kantilal Amrutiya, Arvind Rana and new young MLAs Pravin Kumar Mali, Dr. Hasmukh Patel, Amul Bhatt and Hemantbhai Ahir will also contribute to the committee
The Public Accounts Committee of the Fifteenth Gujarat Legislative Assembly, headed by Jitubhai Vaghani, has done remarkable work so far. The Committee submitted its first report on February 28, 2024, the second report on August 23, 2024 and on March 21, 2025 in the recently concluded Budget Session. The reports examined the accounts for the two years 2011-12 and 2014-15. The Committee has so far examined the provisions of financial budget of estimated Rs 3,50,000 crore
During the year 2023-24, the Committee held a total of 40 meetings, in which 2692 paragraphs were resolved. Similarly, in the year 2024-25, 1517 paragraphs have been settled in a total of 29 seats. Thus, a total of 4289 mercury has been settled by the Committee in the last two years, which clearly shows the efficiency of the Committee and its commitment to financial matters
The appointment of Jitubhai Vaghani as president for the third consecutive year is seen as an appreciation of his efforts to maintain financial discipline and transparency. Under his leadership, the Public Accounts Committee has played an important role in the financial management of the state
